Dr Catherine Kettleborough

Since March 2022, Catherine (Katy) Kettleborough has headed up LifeArc’s Chronic Respiratory Infection Translational Challenge. The Translational Challenge is a £100- million programme focussing on acceleration scientific innovations to impact on healthcare interventions for people living with bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis. Prior to that, she was part of a team establishing a drug discovery capability at MRC Technology in 2006 and led a biology group providing assay development and screening support to de-risk and progress novel targets from academia into the drug discovery pipeline until 2022. She has 30 years plus experience of working at the interface between academic research and pharma/biotech, as a bench scientist, project manager, team leader and start-up Director. Katy is committed to building a collaborative drug discovery community across academia and industry and has served as European Laboratory Research and Innovation Group (ELRIG https://elrig.org/) Board member, and chair of the Science Strategy group 2019-2023. She also served on Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) European Council 2015-2018.
